From adjusting to study at AIDC to navigating Melbourne life, our Student Support and Careers Manager (SCCM) will assist you with both big and small problems.  Including 24/7 critical incident, urgent and emergency support.  When necessary, they can also direct you to additional individualized and specialized services.

This service is available for critical incidents, emergencies, or situations where you feel unsafe or require immediate assistance. 

If you are unable to attend campus, we offer online meetings. 
Your Support Officer will contact you to confirm the time and provide a Zoom or Teams link for your appointment.

All new AIDC students participate in an Interactive Orientation Week designed to help you settle into the college. 

Orientation includes: 

  • Campus tour (classrooms, workshop spaces, student areas) 
  • Understanding your timetable and training plan 
  • Introduction to trainers and key administrative staff 
  • Overview of WHS, emergency procedures, and code of conduct 
  • Academic expectations and assessment formats 
  • Getting started with email, LMS, and digital resources 
  • Life in Melbourne — transport, living costs, safety, and local essentials 

You will also receive your student ID, handbook, and resource information.

AIDC offers confidential support for: 

  • Mental health and emotional wellbeing

  • Medical and emergency guidance 
  • Accessing GP services using OSHC 

In emergencies, we support students in connecting with relevant services (000, local medical care, mental health resources). 

We also provide WHS workshops and safety briefings for all training activities, especially on construction sites and during practical sessions. 

Our counselling team offers confidential and culturally sensitive support.

Students can request extra support via the Student Services Portal or by contacting trainers directly. 

AIDC provides students with access to:

  • CAD, BIM, engineering software (course-dependent) 
  • MS Office, LMS login support, and troubleshooting
