Overview
The CPC30326 Certificate III in Carpentry + CPC50220 Diploma of Building and Construction (Building) pathway program is designed for students who want to develop practical carpentry skills before progressing into building supervision, project coordination and construction management.
This packaged pathway combines hands-on trade training with advanced knowledge in building codes, construction planning, estimating, contracts, structural principles, WHS and project management.
Students first develop the practical skills required to work in residential and commercial carpentry environments. They then progress to the Diploma, where they learn to plan, supervise and manage building and construction projects.

Completion of the Diploma does not automatically provide a builder’s licence. Licensing requirements vary between Australian states and territories, and students should confirm requirements with the relevant state or territory building authority.

Entry requirements
Applicants should:
- Be at least 18 years of age, unless otherwise approved by the provider
- Meet the provider’s academic entry requirements
- Demonstrate suitable English language, literacy and numeracy skills
- Complete the provider’s pre-training review or LLN assessment
- Have the physical capacity to participate in practical construction activities
- Understand that carpentry training involves physical work, manual handling, tools, equipment and construction-site hazards
- Meet any student visa and Genuine Student requirements applicable to international students
Previous construction experience may be considered through the provider’s Recognition of Prior Learning process. RPL is subject to an evidence-based assessment and does not guarantee a reduction in course duration.
