Overview

Design the infrastructure of tomorrow

The Diploma of Civil Construction Design and Advanced Diploma of Civil Construction Design pathway is designed for students seeking a career in civil construction design, drafting and infrastructure development.

The CRICOS courses included in this pathway are:

  • RII50520 Diploma of Civil Construction Design – 119478G
  • RII60520 Advanced Diploma of Civil Construction Design – 119475K

The pathway begins with the RII50520 Diploma of Civil Construction Design, where students develop technical skills in civil design, CAD, engineering mathematics, construction materials, project coordination and detailed civil structure design.

Students can then progress to the RII60520 Advanced Diploma of Civil Construction Design, developing advanced skills in complex civil works design, program risk, quality systems, safe design and technical leadership.

This pathway supports students to develop the knowledge and skills required to work as civil construction designers or design paraprofessionals supporting professional engineers.

Students learn to:

  • Prepare civil construction designs and technical documentation
  • Use computer-aided design and drafting systems
  • Apply engineering mathematics and mechanics
  • Prepare designs for foundations, drainage and civil structures
  • Interpret technical data and construction requirements
  • Apply safe design principles to manage WHS risks
  • Manage civil works design processes
  • Establish and maintain quality systems
  • Coordinate project teams and stakeholders
  • Manage risks associated with civil construction programs
  • Develop solutions for complex infrastructure projects

The Diploma reflects the role of civil construction designers and design paraprofessionals. The Advanced Diploma develops higher-level capabilities for senior civil works design and complex civil construction design activities. Training.gov.au – RII50520 · Training.gov.au – RII60520
