Overview

This trade qualification prepares students for work as a carpenter in residential and commercial construction. 
It covers skills in setting out, manufacturing, constructing, assembling, installing, and repairing structures and products made from both timber and non-timber materials.

State and territory licensing, legislative, or regulatory requirements may vary. Students should check with the relevant local authority for details. 

Completion of the general construction induction training (White Card) is mandatory for anyone undertaking construction work. 
Achievement of CPCCWHS1001 Prepare to work safely in the construction industry meets this requirement.

This qualification is also suitable for an Australian Apprenticeship pathway.

Entry Requirements

Admissions:  

Prospective students must: 

  1. Be at least 18 years old at the time of course commencement 
  2. Have satisfactorily completed studies equivalent to Australian Year 12 
  3. Demonstrate an IELTS 6.0 (Academic or General) overall score, or equivalent, in accordance with the Department of Education and DHA requirements 
  4. Complete the Institute’s ACSF and Digital Skills Assessments to confirm LLND skill levels

Study Structure

Course Structure: 
This qualification allows you to become a trade-qualified carpenter upon completion of your training. Graduates can work across residential, commercial, and formwork projects in Australia’s high-demand construction industry. 

You may also choose to start your own carpentry business or progress to CPC40120 Certificate IV in Building and Construction (Building) to advance your career and work toward becoming a registered builder.
